Qld: Man charged over bread truck theft

BRISBANE, April 8 AAP - An unemployed Ipswich man, 35, has been charged over the theft
of a bread delivery van in Ipswich this morning.

Police said the man had jumped into the van parked on Brisbane Road about 5.30am today
and driven away.

A passer-by saw the theft and alerted the van operator.

The two men pursued the stolen van to South Station Road, Booval.

The man stopped the van and attempted to run away, but was caught by the van operator,
who called police.

The man, who recorded a blood alcohol level of 0.148, will appear on charges of drink
driving and unlawful use of a motor vehicle in Ipswich Magistrates Court in the next two
weeks.
