THE OLYMPIC SELECTION hoopla is over, thankfully, and Chicago lost, resoundingly. It was a blow to the civic pride of Chicago's supporters and its Olympic committee officials. Years of planning, and about $70 million, went into Chicago's bid and the results came to, well, nothing.
But it doesn't have to be that way. We add our voice to that of Tribune columnist Blair Kamin and others in urging Mayor Daley, Patrick Ryan and other committee members involved in the bid to turn that nothing into something.
Instead of tossing all those plans, take another look at them and consider carrying some of them out anyway.
