Driver hurt in truck rollover:
The driver of a dump truck was injured Wednesday morning in Round Lake when the vehicle he was operating rolled over on his legs. Greater Round Lake Fire Protection District Lt. Dick White said the driver was attempting to dump the trucks' contents behind a house on Fox Trail around 11:30 a.m., near Route 134 and Fairfield Road. As the vehicle started to tip, the man jumped out in an attempt to escape, but the truck rolled over his legs. He was taken to Condell Medical Center in Libertyville for his injuries.
Wauconda Chili Cookoff:
The Wauconda Lions Club is hosting its second annual Chili Cook Off Championship from 4 to 7 p.m., Jan. 25, at Lindy's Landing and Wauconda Park District's Beach Park. Space is limited to 30 entrants and the winner will receive a traveling trophy. The entry fee is $20 and pre-registration is required. Candidate packets available:
People interested in running for one of the five open seats at the Fox Waterway Agency are urged to pick up petition packets over the Internet at the Illinois State Board of Elections at www.elections.state.il.us. Two seats on the board are available for residents of McHenry and two positions are open for residents of Lake County.
